One World Centre is an education, learning resource and community centre focused on global issues such as human rights, sustainable lifestyles, migration and multiculturalism, and social justice and equality. The OWC specialises in supporting individuals and communities to develop the capabilities that empower them to make positive differences in an increasingly challenging and interconnected world.
We support and participate in local action and partnerships for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and our activities are underpinned by our Reconciliation Action Plan.
The OWC is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation.
Professional Learning
Through a range of workshops and consultations designed to meet the needs of the people we work with, the OWC provides professional learning opportunities that foster responsible and skilled global citizenship for a sustainable world. We provide professional development and resources for early childhood, primary, secondary and pre-service educators throughout Western Australia who wish to incorporate global education in their teaching programs. The OWC can also provide professional education in universities and the private, government and community sector.
Global Education Library
The Centre houses a comprehensive library of global education resources – books, teaching kits, posters and audio-visual materials, which are available for loan to members throughout Western Australia. Librarians are media and information experts, and can also assist teachers in finding relevant online resources for exploring world issues in the globally connected classroom.
School Incursions and Presentations
The OWC provides interactive workshops for school classes and groups on global issues such as youth action for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, human rights, food security, climate change action, sustainable cities and sustainable lifestyles.
Community Engagement – Act Local, Be Global!
The One World Centre is also involved in local community engagement projects fostering local action linked to global goals and aspirations. OWC collaborates with other organisations working in the areas of development, human rights and global sustainability.
