Coming Together/Makkarata – NAIDOC Event with Melissa Spillman
In celebration of NAIDOC Week, a morning of painting and conversation with local artist, Melissa Spillman, was held at the One World Centre on Saturday 10th July 2021. A collaborative painting was created by all attendees. Melissa is a local Indigenous artist who is part of YirraKurl, “to go up” in Noongar Indigenous language, a family-owned business. The business is owned by Melissa and her mother. Their Indigenous heritage comes from Gnowangerup in the south-west of WA. Melissa will guide us in a collaborative art work around the theme of “Coming Together” or “Makkarata”.
